Rubio Monocoat Wood Soap

When our own Dear Dot and Mr. Dot were renovating, they looked for floors that could withstand the impact of their two large dogs. After scratching up samples with keys, they selected gorgeous, indestructible, FSC-certified Brazilian walnut wood. They maintain their gorgeous wood floors with Rubio Monocoat. This cleaning-and-sheening product is Greenguard Gold Certified for low levels of chemical emissions. It also emits zero VOCs (volatile organic compounds — the nasty gases common in paints, cleaning products, pesticides, and much more). Rubio Monocoat is admittedly pricey, but a little goes a long way: Dot adds a capful to warm water before mopping and that does the trick. She says that, just as the label proclaims, the product “removes all dirt and grease thoroughly without a leaving a film,” and leaves the floors with a gorgeous sheen.
