Uncommon Goods

Founded in 1999 to bring the feeling of a craft fair to the internet, Uncommon Goods has become one of the best places on the internet to find unique, exciting, and thoughtfully made gifts. The design-forward items aim to inspire, spark curiosity and creativity, and solve everyday problems in unexpected ways. Their catalog includes everything from handcrafted home décor and kitchen tools to clever accessories, personalized keepsakes, and one-of-a-kind games. Some of our favorites include a literary clock, recycled glass birth month bouquets, playful garden sculptures, and interactive mugs that provide new facts, jokes, and quotes everyday. Quirky online experiences cover everything from dog massage to cocktail mixology to astrology.

Sustainability and social responsibility guide how Uncommon Goods operates behind the scenes, too. The brand encourages its makers to prioritize eco-friendly materials and ships orders with recycled and responsibly sourced packaging and paper tape. Through its Better to Give program, Uncommon Goods donates $1 from every purchase (and $2 for Perks members) to a non-profit partner of the customer’s choosing. Since 2001, the program has raised over $3 million for organizations like American Forests and the International Rescue Committee.

Something else we love about Uncommon Goods is the company’s uncommon commitment to its employees. Starting pay for hourly workers is more than double the federal minimum wage, and compensation includes paid family leave for new parents and those caring for ill loved ones. Beyond its own workplace, Uncommon Goods has actively supported campaigns for paid leave and higher wages in New York State and continues to advocate for fair labor policies nationwide.
