Rug company Hook & Loom has a simple slogan: “Protect the planet. Flatter your floor.” We love the assortment of affordable, attractive, feel-good rugs as much as we appreciate how they’re made. Hook & Look uses no chemicals, flame-retardants, dyes, or latex, so its rugs don’t generate malodorous (and potentially harmful) off-gasses. The Massachusetts brand uses three materials: Eco Cotton, GOTS Certified organic cotton, and wool. If you’d like a colorful rug, choose Eco Cotton, as it’s made from (pre-dyed) recovered cotton fibers. The organic cotton rugs come in a luxe cream, while wool rugs come in solid and patterned neutral tones. A 5’ x 8’ Eco Cotton Flatweave rug costs just $145, and prices top out at $1,875 for a 12’ x 16’ for a Loom-Hooked wool rug.
