Stella McCartney

Bluedot’s BuyBetter Marketplace doesn’t generally highlight luxury goods or big-name brands. But, we’ve decided to make an exception for Stella McCartney, a designer whose eponymous brand has been fur-, feather-, leather, and exotic-skin-free since its 2001 launch. The brand’s 2023 impact report details its many sustainability initiatives, including emissions and water reductions goals and progress. Stella McCartney has been an early adopter of many unique materials, such as vegan leathers and bio-based sequins. Stella’s Falabella bag, a bestseller since its release in 2009, has shown the fashion world that vegan leather purses can be true luxury items. The Falabella Tiny Tote has just come to market in Mirum, the first completely plastic-free vegan leather. Along with her sister Mary and father Paul (yes, that Paul McCartney), Stella McCartney launched the Meat-Free Mondays movement in 2009. She also won PETA’s 2024 Person of the Year Award.
