Bean and Bear Studio Jewelry
“Earth-First” jewelry studio Bean and Bear Studio makes beautiful, sustainable jewelry inspired by the natural world. Our favorite pieces capture the essence of nature’s most elegant creations, such as a dragonfly’s delicate wings, a river’s undulating rhythm, and the intimacy of a bird’s nest. Most pieces cost less than $100, with several below the $50 mark, making Bean and Bear jewelry an affordable luxury.
Founder Sarah Shores works in a solar-powered studio, where she handcrafts each piece using certified recycled sterling silver, recycled copper, and carefully sourced stones. Shores even collects rainwater for washing and tumbling her pieces. Items ship in Oeko-Tex and Fair Trade–certified pouches, and compostable and curbside-recyclable packaging. As a 1% for the Planet member, Bean and Bear donates at least 1% of all sales to environmental nonprofits. Shores directs her donations to The Potomac Conservancy, an organization dedicated to protecting the Maryland river that inspires so much of her work.
